Biography

I started playing the piano when I was just four years old and ever since then I have been performing and creating music. It is my passion as well as my career.  You learn a lot about yourself and the world around you in the world of music.   It has powerful emotive qualities and is an endless journey of learning and development.

I mainly specialise in piano tuition and musical theatre directing, but have experience in a diverse and varied number of different events and styles, including pop and rock bands, steel drums and samba band percussion concerts. I have experience in a variety of instruments including clarinet, drums, and saxophone, as well as singing and conducting. However, piano will always be my most loved instrument.

My greatest supportive influence and origin of all my inspiration was my granddad, who was also a professional pianist. He knew I had an excitement for music and recommended me to take lessons.   He was there for every exam, every competition and him knowing how important music is to us both,  is something that continues to inspire me even now. Without his care and support, I have no doubt that my musical accomplishments would not be as they are today.

In the past I have worked in Plymouth and surrounding areas as rehearsal pianist and musical director for a number of local amateur theatre companies including; ‘Italia Conti Stage School’, ‘Dockyard Revue Players’, ‘Sterts Theatre,  Children's Amateur Theatre Society ( C.A.T.S ),   ‘Plymkids’ and  Plymouth Theatre Company,  TOPS Musical Productions (Torquay),  Sounds Musical Company,

Past shows include ... 42nd Street,  Priscilla,  Nativity, The Musical,  Shrek,  Elf,  Little Women,  CATS,  Legally Blonde,  Top Hat,  Company,  Oliver,  Brigadoon,  My Fair Lady,  Addams Family Musical,  Jekyll & Hyde,  Bugsy Malone,  Chorus Line,  The Full Monty,  9 To 5,  Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,  Avenue Q,  Little Shop of Horrors,  West Side Story,  Carousel,   Calamity Jane,  Guys and Dolls,  Les Miserables,  Sound of Music,  Godspell,  Annie,  Jesus Christ Superstar,  Fiddler On The Roof,  Brother Jaques, Cornish Phoenix,  Sweeney Todd,   Gypsy,  Our House,  Me and My Girl,  Music of the Night 2006, 2008 and 2012

I have also been involved with pantomimes such as Aladdin, Mother Goose, Sinbad, Cinderella and Dick Whittington. In addition I have also taken part in many charity performances including Sing a Rainbow, Heart and Music, St Lukes Light Up a Life, Dame Hannah Rogers Christmas celebrations and many more.

I have also been awarded the highly recognised, 'teaching specialist' qualification from the Associated Board - DipABRSM Teaching Diploma.  That, in addition to my 4 years of intensive studying and incredible training at the Royal Welsh College has given me the skills to teach my students to a extremely high standard.  I would like to think of myself as a friendly, supporting and enthusiastic teacher who will help you or your child to learn a skill that will stay with you for life.
